Description

The most recent model in the popular Pixhawk flight controller family is called Pixhawk 4. It was created in partnership with Holybro and the PX4 team, is preconfigured with the most recent PX4 firmware (v1.7), and is optimised to run the entire Dronecode stack.

Compared to earlier models, the Pixhawk 4 has a new, smaller form factor, higher processing power, and twice as much RAM. It also has additional connectors for improved integration and expansion, new sensors with stronger temperature stability, integrated vibration isolation, and increased simplicity of use—the most recent version of PX4 (v1.7) comes pre-installed.

It has the most sophisticated ST Microelectronics CPU technology, Bosch and InvenSense sensor technology, and a NuttX real-time operating system, which together provide amazing performance, adaptability, and dependability for managing any autonomous vehicle. The microprocessor in the Pixwhawk 4 now has 512KB of RAM and 2 MB of flash memory. Developers may work more effectively and productively with greater power and RAM available to them. On the autopilot, more intricate models and algorithms can be used.

On-board IMUs that are high-performing and low-noise are made for stabilisation applications. All sensor data-ready signals are routed to independent interrupt and timer capture pins on the autopilot, allowing sensor data to be precisely time-stamped. More precise readings are made possible by recently developed vibration isolations, which improves overall flight performance for vehicles.

Additional sensors and SPI-interfaced payloads can be added thanks to the two external SPI buses and the six related chip select lines. Two of the four I2C buses are set aside for external usage, while the other two are grouped together with serial ports to accommodate GPS/compass modules.
For developers working with corporate research labs, startups, and academia (research, professors, students), the Pixhawk 4 autopilot development kit is ideal.
