Applications needing higher picture resolution are intended for the Velodyne Puck Hi-Res Lidar Sensor. With a 20° vertical field-of-view for tighter channel distribution, the Puck Hi-ResTM sensor maintains the surround vision and best-in-class range of the original Puck.

Velodyne DcddscBuilding on the revolutionary VLP-16 Puck Hi-Res lidar sensor from Velodyne Lidar, which is a 16-channel, real-time lidar sensor weighing only 830 grammes, Puck Hi-Res is utilised in applications where a higher resolution in the 3D image captured is required. In order to provide more details in the 3D image at longer ranges, Puck Hi-Res maintains the Pucks’s 360° horizontal field-of-view (FoV) and 100-meter range while delivering a 20° vertical FoV for a tighter channel distribution (1.33° between channels as opposed to 2.00°). This will improve the host system’s ability to distinguish and recognise objects at these longer ranges.
