Description

This is the OMRON Arduino 8 Channel 5V Solid State Relay Module Board. An integrated circuit (IC) that functions similarly to a mechanical relay is known as a solid state relay (SSR). They enable you to use lower voltage DC control circuits to regulate high-voltage AC loads. In order to do this, they use infrared light as the “contact.” An IR LED and a photo triac are essentially combined into a small box to form a solid-state relay. Compared to mechanical relays, solid state relays provide a number of advantages.

Similar to a mechanical relay, a solid state relay can be operated by a digital signal. A solid state relay lasts far longer than a regular mechanical relay and produces no noise.

One benefit over most mechanical relays is that they can be switched at considerably lower voltages and currents. Furthermore, solid state relays can be switched far more quickly and for longer periods of time without wearing out since they lack moving contacts.
