Description

A breakout board for the incredibly useful 16-Channel Analog/Digital Multiplexer/Demultiplexer is the CD74HC4067 High-Speed CMOS 16-Channel Analog/Digital Multiplexer Breakout Module. Comparable to a rotary switch, this chip internally sends the common pin (designated as SIG on the board and COM in the schematic) to one of the 16 channel pins (CHANxx). It operates on both analogue and digital signals (the voltage cannot exceed VCC), and the connections can be made in any way. To operate it, attach four digital outputs to the address choose pins (S0-S3) of the device and supply the desired channel’s binary address (see to the datasheet for specifics). With just 5 pins, you can use this to connect up to 16 sensors to your system!

You can use the mux/demux to pipe TTL-level serial data to or from numerous devices because it also operates with digital signals. It might be used, for instance, to link one RX pin on your microcontroller to the TX pins of sixteen devices. After then, you can choose to listen on any one of those 16 devices. You can add a second board to route your microcontroller’s TX line to the RX lines of 16 devices if you want two-way communication. You can set up similar configurations for SPI, I2C, etc. by utilising numerous boards.

The internal switches of the CD74HC4067 are bidirectional, support voltages between ground and VCC, have low “on” resistance and low “off” leakage, and use “break-before-make” switching to avoid crosstalk. Additionally, the chip’s “enable” pin is broken out by the board. When driven high, this pin totally disconnects the common pin, turning all switches “off.”

Note: The product comes with two variants of ICs i.e CD74HP4067 and CD74HC4067 it doesn’t affect the functionality of the product.

Features :

  1. “On” resistance: 70 Ohms @ 4.5V
