The MD20A appears to be a robust motor driver solution for high-power brushed DC motors, offering bidirectional control over a wide voltage range from 6V to 30V. Its discrete NMOS H-Bridge design enables it to handle continuous currents of up to 20A without the need for a heatsink, which simplifies installation and reduces component count.
The inclusion of onboard test buttons and motor output LEDs streamlines the testing process, allowing for quick verification of functionality without the need for a host controller connection, which can be particularly useful during setup and troubleshooting phases.
Compatibility with a range of host controllers, thanks to its input logic voltage range from 1.8V to 12V, ensures versatility and ease of integration into various projects, whether using popular platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or PLCs.
The MD20A also boasts several protection features to safeguard both the motor and the driver itself. Overcurrent protection prevents damage in scenarios such as motor stalls or when an oversized motor is connected, while the temperature protection dynamically adjusts the current limiting threshold based on board temperature, ensuring optimal performance without risking MOSFET damage.
Note: Power input does not have reverse-voltage protection. Connecting the battery in reverse polarity will damage the motor driver instantaneously.
Examples of applications include automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automation machines, game simulators, solar trackers, and mobile robots.
