MAX30100 Pulse Oximeter Heart Rate Sensor Module

Heart Rate Click has a heart-rate sensor and Maxim’s MAX30100 integrated pulse oximetry. It is an optical sensor that measures the absorbance of pulsing blood using a photodetector after generating two wavelengths of light from two LEDs—a red and an infrared one. The colour mix of these LEDs is ideal for reading data with the tip of the finger.

A low-noise analogue signal processing unit processes the signal, which is then sent over the mikroBUS I2C interface to the target microcontroller. End-user application developers should be aware that excessive motion and temperature variations can have a negative effect on the readings. Furthermore, excessive pressure might narrow capillary blood flow, which reduces the accuracy of the data. There’s also an INT pin that can be programmed. The uses a 3.3V power source to function.
