Description

Ten times faster than the Teensy 3.2, the Teensy 4.0 has an ARM Cortex-M7 processor running at 600 MHz, paired with an NXP iMXRT1062 chip, the fastest microcontroller on the market right now! The NXP iMXRT1062 is a “cross-over” processor that operates at the speed of a microcomputer yet has the features of a microcontroller. When you require two full-speed USB connections or a ton of memory, RAM, and data crunching capacity, this device is ideal. There’s even a graphics processor on it! For just two  sawbucks.

Teensy 4.0 uses about 100 mA of electricity to operate at 600 MHz.

The Teensy 4.0 board supports clock scaling dynamically. In contrast to conventional microcontrollers, which result in incorrect baud rates and other problems when the clock speed is changed, Teensy 4.0 hardware and Teensyduino’s software support for Arduino timing functions are made to enable dynamic speed changes. While the CPU speed varies, serial baud rates, audio streaming sample rates, Teensyduino’s extensions like elapsedMillis and intervalTimer, and Arduino methods like delay() and millis() continue to perform as intended.

Another feature offered by Teensy 4.0 is a power shut-off function. The 3.3V power supply can be fully switched off by holding down a pushbutton connected to the On/Off pin for five seconds, and it can be turned back on with a quick press of the button. When the power is off, Teensy 4.0’s RTC maintains date and time if a coin cell is connected to VBAT.

It is possible to overclock the Teensy 4.0 to frequencies far above 600 MHz!
