RAMPS 1.4 Board:
The Mega Pololu Shield, or RAMPS 1.4, was designed to house all of a RepRap’s electronics requirements in a single, affordable, tiny container. RAMPS provides plenty of opportunity for growth and interfaces a Mega with the robust Arduino MEGA platform. The modular design allows for easy maintenance, part replacement, upgradeability, and extension. Plug-in stepper drivers and extruder control circuits are located on the Arduino MEGA shield. It is also possible to add many Arduino extension boards to the system. provided that the primary RAMPS board remains at the top of the stack.

We want to be able to detect when an X/Y/Z stage has reached its minimum or maximum. Instead of messing with flags or complicated light beam interruptors, we use a mechanical switch.
