Description

A tiny circular magnet is attached to each of the four spindles on the ICSH044A ICSTATION Blackberry Trackball Breakout Board 360 Degree Trajectory Ball Module Hall Effect Sensor. These spindles are paired with SMD hall effect sensors, which are used to measure the trackball’s movements left, right, up, and down.

You have a choose switch thanks to an SMD momentary switch that is positioned beneath the trackball. When the switch is pressed, the BTN line will be pulled low. Four LEDs are also included with the Trackballer: red, blue, green, and white. These have the ability to illuminate whatever colour you can think of on the clear trackball.

Every feature is separated into a header with a 0.1′′ pitch. Power for the Hall sensors must be supplied at a controlled 2.5–5.25 VDC. Robust CA glue is used to secure the trackball. The board is sent fully assembled and as pictured.

The combination of the trackball and hall-effect sensors is remarkably sensitive. You may add a mouse to your project with ease because a small roll of the trackball generates repeated high/low transitions on the four axis pins, which can be easily read by any microcontroller. The trackball can rotate 360 degrees on a single axis, producing around 9 high/low transitions.
