Description

The advantages of PLA and ABS filaments are combined in the eSun PETG 3D Filament. It is a highly durable and heat-resistant material that is simple to print. Additionally, PETG filament provides a small amount of flexibility and strong layer adhesion.

PET-G, or polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified, is a thermoplastic that is incredibly durable and water-resistant, and it has a gorgeous, glossy finish. PET is a well-known plastic because soda bottles are the main product that it is used for. This material has gained a lot of popularity recently for 3D printing since it combines many excellent qualities from both PLA and ABS.

PETG printing is not much harder than PLA printing and is nearly as simple. Since PLA has an extremely strong self-bond, it is best to squish the first layer as much as possible to avoid the material blobbing around the nozzle and destroying your print. Because of the excellent layer adhesion, the final product is bendable rather than breakable, unlike PLA. Because glue doesn’t have much traction on PETG, it doesn’t stick to other materials very well. The fact that PETG’s neutral palettes are nearly transparent like glass allows us to create amazing translucent colours, which is another fantastic feature of the material.

PET-G can be printed with 3DLAC with minimal to no warping with or without a heated bed. However, we advise using a heated bed set to 65 degrees because the print will automatically come free as it cools. The ideal temperature for extrusion is 245 degrees; any lower temperature will cause increased stringiness and poorer adherence. There shouldn’t be any odour during printing, although it is advised to do so in a place with good ventilation.

Suggested Print parameters:
  1. Print temperature 220-260°C
  2. Bed heat (optional): 80-90°C
  3. Print speed 30-60mm/s
  4. Head movement speed 30-60mm/s
PETG is a fantastic material that has the advantages of both PLA and ABS:
  1. Strong & Impact resistant
  2. More flexible than PLA
  3. Glossy
  4. Low shrinkage
  5. Smooth flow
  6. Odorless

Features:

  1. Higher strength, lower shrinkage, and smoother finish than ABS & PLA
  2. Combines good strength with ductility, making it a good, tough material for mechanical parts
  3. Good chemical resistance
  4. Often features a nice, translucent finish
  5. Contains UV absorber
  6. Good hydrophobicity (doesn’t absorb water easily), good for high humidity storage & usage
  7. Low shrinkage, allowing non-headed bed printing
  8. Almost odorless during printing.
