Description

A programmable waveform generator with minimal power consumption, the AD9833 can generate outputs in the forms of sine, triangle, and square waves. For many kinds of sensing, actuation, and temporal domain reflectometry (TDR) applications, waveform creation is necessary. Easy adjustment is possible due to the software changeable output frequency and phase. There is no requirement for outside parts.

The AD9833 can directly link with several microprocessors thanks to its standard serial interface. The device writes data or control information into it using an external serial clock.

There is a 3-wire serial interface used to write to the AD9833. This serial interface is compatible with DSP and microcontroller standards, and it can run at clock speeds of up to 40 MHz. The power supply range for the gadget is 2.3 V to 5.5 V.

There is a power-down feature (SLEEP) on the AD9833. This minimises the part’s current consumption by enabling parts of the device that are not in use to be switched down. For example, the DAC can be turned off when a clock output is being created.

Features:

  1. Digitally programmable frequency and phase
  2. 12.65 mW power consumption at 3 V
  3. 0 MHz to 12.5 MHz output frequency range
  4. 28-bit resolution: 0.1 Hz at 25 MHz reference clock
  5. Sinusoidal, triangular, and square wave outputs
  6. 2.3 V to 5.5 V power supply
  7. No external components required
  8. 3-wire SPI interface
