For modest budget multi-rotors, this TS835 FPV 5.8G 600MW 48CH (2-6S) Wireless AV Transmitter is ideal. Works incredibly well in an atom, and you can hurl it around the sky without worrying about breaking it due to its low cost.

Soldering a single core wire to the SMA is a good minor hack that will give you more than adequate range without the need for a lengthy, bulky antenna.

Note: Two PCB colors—blue and green—are available for this product, and they will be supplied at random.
