Description

When the amount of ambient light exposed on the sensor’s surface varies, so does the resistance of the 12mm GL12528 Light Sensitive Photoresistor LDR. The resistance between the two leads drops as the sensor’s light intensity rises. In addition, the 12mm LDR or photoresistor sensor performs best in both light and dark environments. Light Dependent Resistors are a sort of photocell that finds exceptional usage in light detecting device applications, such as automated outdoor light ON/OFF switches or indoor automatic light switches. In electronics, photo-resistors are a basic component. There is no simpler method for detecting the amount of ambient light than using an LDR/photo-resistor.

Two photoconductive cells made of cadmium sulphide that have spectral sensitivities akin to the human eye. As the intensity of the light increases, cell resistance decreases. This product can be used in batch counting, automated lighting control, burglar alarm systems, and smoke detection. Additionally, a list of some of the applications is provided below.

Applications for Analogue:

  • Regulation of camera exposure
  • Dual cell auto slide focus
  • Photocopy machines: the toner density
