Description

The 20mm GL20528 Light Sensitive Photoresistor LDR’s resistance varies in response to variations in the amount of ambient light that strikes its surface. The resistance between the two leads drops as the sensor’s light intensity rises. In addition, the 12mm LDR or photoresistor sensor performs best in both light and dark environments. Light Dependent Resistors are a sort of photocell that finds exceptional usage in light detecting device applications, such as automated outdoor light ON/OFF switches or indoor automatic light switches. An essential component of electronics is the photo-resistor. There is no simpler method for detecting the amount of ambient light than using an LDR/photo-resistor.

Two photoconductive cells made of cadmium sulphide that have spectral sensitivities akin to the human eye. As the intensity of the light increases, cell resistance decreases. This product can be used in batch counting, automated lighting control, burglar alarm systems, and smoke detection. Additionally, a list of some of the applications is provided below.

Applications for Analogue:

  • Regulation of camera exposure
  • Dual cell auto slide focus
  • Photocopy machines: the toner density
  • Colorimetric testing apparatus
  • Dual cell electronics scales for densitometers
  • Modulated light source with automated gain control
  • Rearview mirror automation

Digital Uses:

  • Automated dimming of headlights; control of nightlights
  • Flame out of an oil burner
  • Control of streetlights
  • Lack of presence (lightning rod)
  • Location sensor

Other Applications:

  • Annunciator Automatic Photometry Camera
  • electronic plaything
