Description

A photoresistor, also known as a light-dependent resistor, LDR, or photo-conductive cell, is the 5800B Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) White Colour. This is a variable resistor that is light-controlled. A photoresistor demonstrates photoconductivity when its resistance drops as the intensity of the incident light increases. A semiconductor with a high resistance is used to create a photoresistor.

Semiconductor devices called photoresistors employ light energy to regulate the flow of electrons and, consequently, the current that passes through them. The resistance of the LDR rises as the light level falls. The voltage dropped across the LDR grows as this resistance rises in comparison to the other resistor, which has a fixed resistance. The transistor will turn on when this voltage is high enough (0.7V for a standard NPN transistor).
The material conductivity of the object decreases and the electrons in the valence band of the gadget are stimulated to the conduction band when light strikes its surface.

Note: Product colour may differ; you may receive the colour of your choice.

Features:

  • Dark current corresponds to a dark resistance of greater than 200 MΩ.
  • Light Resistance: less than 2.4 kilo-ohms, or light current.
  • Higher sensitivity.
  • Light current minus dark current equals the current.
  • 5 mm in diameter.
