Description

The resistance of this 5mm LDR varies as the surface of the sensor is exposed to different levels of ambient light. An effective photocell type for light sensing devices is the LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), which may be used for both indoor and outdoor automatic light switches.

Both bright and dark environments are ideal for the LDR 5mm sensor’s performance. In electronics, light-dependent resistors, sometimes known as photoresistors, are ubiquitous. There’s no simpler way to detect the amount of ambient light if you need to. The resistance between the two leads drops as the sensor’s light intensity rises.

A pair of Cadmium Sulfuride (CD) PhotoConductive Cells possessing spectral sensitivities akin to those of human eyes. As the intensity of the light increases, cell resistance decreases. This product can be used in batch counting, automated lighting control, burglar alarm systems, and smoke detection.

Analog Applications:
Controlling Camera Exposure
Dual cell auto slide focus
Photocopy machines: the toner density
Colorimetric Testing Instruments
Electronic scales for densitometers: dual cell, automatic gain control, modulated light source
Driverless Rearview Mirror

Digital Applications:
Nightlight control and automatic headlight dimming.
Flame out of an oil burner
Control of streetlight
Presence and absence (beam breaker)
Location sensor
