Description

A series of low dropout three-terminal regulators with a dropout of 5.0V at 1A load current is the AMS1117-5.0V 1A SOT-223 Voltage Regulator IC. The AMS 1117 has an extremely low standby current of 2mA as opposed to a competitor’s 5mA. In addition to a fixed version with Vout = 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, and 12V, the AMS1117 also features an adjustable variant that, with just two external resistors, can produce an output voltage ranging from 1.25 to 12V.

Thermal shutdown and current limit features are provided by AMS 1117 to ensure the stability of the chip and power supply. Additionally, it guarantees output voltage accuracy within 2% by using a trimming mechanism. On request, further output voltage precision, like 1%, can be set.
