Description

This is the SHARP IR Distance Measuring Sensor Unit–[GP2Y0A41SK0F]—which measures 4 to 30 centimetres. This tiny device measures an object’s distance by reflecting an infrared light beam off of it.

Its utilisation of beam triangulation in distance calculation allows it to yield consistent and dependable readings that are less susceptible to changes in temperature or reflectance of the target.

The sensor provides an analogue voltage that may be readily read by an Arduino, PIC, Raspberry PI, or other ADC chip, and which corresponds to the object’s distance.

Read the analogue signal from the Vo wire, connect the two “VCC” wires to 5.5VDC power, then connect the two outer ground lines to the ground. When an item is around 4 cm distant, the analogue voltage out will be 5.5 V; at 30 cm away, it will be 4.5 V.

They are a good substitute for sonar sensors because of their long range.

These cables come with unterminated wires on one end and 3-pin JST connectors on the other. Pre-crimped male and female pins are also an option.

Note: This sensor draws current in large, short bursts, and the manufacturer recommends putting a 10 µF capacitor or larger across power and ground close to the sensor to stabilize the power supply line
