Teensy 3.1 can be directly and completely replaced with the Teensy 3.2 Development Board. It works flawlessly with every shield and expansion board designed for Teensy 3.1. The primary modification is an enhanced 3.3V regulator, which enables Teensy to supply power directly to power-hungry 3.3V devices such the WIZ820io (W5200) Ethernet and ESP8266 WiFi.
Due to PCB heat dissipation limitations, the Teensy 3.2’s power output is limited to 250 mA, and its maximum voltage input is 6 volts. The real regulator chip, however, has an input voltage of up to 10 volts and an output voltage of up to 500 mA. These higher limitations are meant to make the Teensy 3.2 more resilient when it is powered by non-USB, poorly regulated 5-volt sources.
The Teensy development board is a feature-rich, compact device that is ideal for use with a breadboard. With the Teensy 3.2, you can do extensive mathematical operations using a 32-bit ARM Cortex microcontroller.
Pre-flashed with a bootloader, the Teensy 3.2 can be programmed via its built-in USB micro-B connector. No need for an outside coder! You have two options for writing Arduino sketches for Teensy: either install the Teensyduino add-on for the Arduino IDE and program for the Teensy using C in your preferred program editor!Teensy 3.2 is widely supported on the Arduino IDE using Teensyduino, and it shares the same dimensions, shape, and pinout as Teensy 3.0 and 3.1.
The Teensy is an excellent choice for USB-MIDI and other HID projects since its CPU can imitate any type of USB device that you require. It also has access to the USB. A few more capabilities that the 32-bit CPU offers are multiple channels of Direct Memory Access, numerous high-resolution ADCs, and an I2S digital audio interface! In addition, there is a delay timer and four independent interval timers! Oh, and there is interrupt capability on every pin. It can also supply other devices with a 3.3V system voltage at up to 100mA.
All of this capability can be quickly implemented because it is crammed onto a 1.4 × 0.7-inch board, with all headers on a 0.1-inch grid.
Teensy 3.2 is meant to be a drop-in replacement for Teensy 3.0/3.1. Only 1 pin has different functionality from Teensy 3.0. The reset pin was replaced by A14/DAC, which you can use for true analog output, or as another analog input.
